Purpose

This Fund was established in 2001 as a memorial to Loresten L. and Alice L. Hinkley who desired that others would get the kind of education they never had opportunity to receive.

The purpose of this fund is to provide assistance to anyone in western or central Maine or the descendents of the above named L. L. & A. L. Hinkley who chooses to go to a college, university or trade school and may be struggling to pay expenses. (See application for details) We understand how difficult it may be for students to get that 'extra' few dollars to meet school expenses. Tuition, books, fees all seem to eat away at the pocketbooks of those enrolled and sometimes the cost of one fee or one text book may make the difference between taking a course and skipping it. This fund is not restricted due to age.

It is our goal to provide scholarships to as many students we can each year. With that in mind we invest a large portion of the proceeds from our fund-raisers so there will be a minimum income available to future students.
